MAX IV Strategy Workshop

Tender X-ray/HAXPES

This email is sent to active users in the MAX IV Digital User Office system

MAX IV is in the process of developing a science-driven Strategy and Roadmap to guide our evolution through 2030. The Strategy is developed at the request of the Swedish Research Council (VR) to act as a guide for future funding decisions. Community input and critical review from all MAX IV stakeholders over the coming months is essential. The aim is that with close participation, a full strategy document is completed in the autumn of 2022.

Strategy Workshops

The strategy workshops will be created by requests from the user community. You are part of the work towards the first edition of the Strategy and Roadmap documents. We will support arranging as many workshops as possible before the User Meeting 2021, which is an opportunity to discuss further and consolidate ideas.

The Strategy document contains the long term vision and directions for MAX IV through 2030. The Roadmap will detail the beamlines and major infrastructure items as well as investments needed to make it a reality. There will be an open submission and evaluation process for “Expressions of Interest” to enter items in the roadmap.

Tender X-ray/HAXPES workshop 17th June

Based on input from the MAX IV user community, we have identified significant interest in the availability of a tender X-ray, e.g. HAXPES beamline at MAX IV. With work ongoing towards identifying potential new beamlines for future research, we are organizing a virtual half-day workshop on the 17th June 2021 (9 am-12 noon CET) to further explore the needs/wishes of the user community in this regard.

The meeting aims to establish a working group made up of representatives of Swedish universities, research institutions, international research communities, industry, as well as from MAX IV to identify science cases for the beamlines in this energy range.

We would be grateful for members of the community to briefly share how a hard/tender beamline would benefit their research. If you are able to contribute such a short (approx. 3 minutes) presentation during the user session. Please email

You can register for this event here

The meeting will take place on ZOOM (17th June 2021, 9:00-12:00 CET)

We strongly encourage you to register for the event to include you in any future emails regarding this topic.
