From June on will be direct flight between Palma (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and New York - Newark (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday) with United Airlines. Starting 3 June until 23 September. Flight time 9hrs, 15 min. And back 8hrs 5 min. In the moment the flights are very good priced.

The nature park s’Albufera in the Northeast will be enlarged for another 390ha, gaining 24% more wet land. Protected land will be reed areas of Sa Pobla and Muro, the beach Es Comu and the area Son Bosc, where once a golf course was planned. The additional area gives more space for thousands of birds during the winter months in Middle and North Europe.

In the time of the Spanish Independent War (1807 - 1814) the Castell de Bellver in Palma was used partly as a prison for French officers and soldiers. They were conquered 1808 in the Battle of Bailen, Andalucia. Archaeologists found now 2 mortal remains, buried underneath the western tower.

The mountain range Serra de Tramuntana was 250mill. years ago a various ecological system with big rivers, plains and tropical climate. The Catalan Institute for Paleontology examined the oldest stones on different places in the Tramuntana. Big parts of the land at that time belonged to the only super continent Pangaea. In an area of this huge land, close to the equator, was what became much later the island Mallorca. Various volcano eruptions caused a change of climate. Extremely good conserved fossils of crustaceans, insects and fishes were found in the deposits. Fern, horsetail and needle trees was the flora.

Glitter and glamour came back in the discotheque BCM in Magaluf. The main entrance still shows the logo BCM, to the left is a new round sign: “Titos Calvia Beach by BCM”. After 98 years in Paseo Maritimo, Palma, Titos moved to Magaluf. BCM is the biggest discotheque in Mallorca and an amusement temple, which is hardly to top. Glass candelabras, marble floor, VIP corners, wide dancing area, 4 bars. BCM plays electronic music for the youngsters. Titos presents a set ambient. The upper floor is open to organize parties.

Worth remembering is that Palma was named the most liveable city in the world by Sunday Times from 50 cities.Which is a good way to explain what many of us feel. Some even call Palma “our living room”!
