To emphasise that social media companies must do more to eradicate online discriminatory abuse against players, and to highlight that the fight against discrimination is far from over, FIFPRO will be joining The PFA in a social media boycott from 15.00 on Friday 30 April to 23.59 on Monday 3 May.
The boycott itself will, of course, not stop the ongoing and sustained hate messages that footballers continue to receive on social media. However, it will show our collective willingness to take proactive steps in this continued fight and highlight the accountability that social media platforms have in tackling online abuse.
Other organizations such as leagues, clubs and charities in the UK –including The FA, EPL, FA Women’s Super League, Women In Football and Kick it Out amongst others- will take part of this action. We would like to inform you about it and invite you to join as well.
