Min Mamma - En Dokumentärmusikal

2016 is soon coming to an end and we look back on a fun and productive year with three premiers of performances directed by Engelkes.

In June the performance KAHLO - The Concert, produced by Theatre Republique in Copenhagen, starring Charlotte Engelkes, Lindy Larsson and the Bon Bon band became an instant smash hit. The theatre concert draws inspiration from the colourful imagery of Frida Kahlo and became a sparkling, sensuous celebration concert of the famous painter’s life, love and art.

The last part of Charlotte Engelkes take on "Der Ring des Nibelungen" by Richard Wagner "Das Rheingold" was transformed in to a performance for young audience and in Engelkes version named simply Guldet (The Gold). Performed in Stadsteatern Skärholmen and Kulturhuset with 53 sold out during autumn. Guldet is nominated as the best children play 2016 by Swedish Theatre critics associations.

In October we finally saw the realization of the new solo piece My Mother - A Documentary Musical. The very personal, dark and naked solo had its premier at Teater Tribunalen in Stockholm and created a wave of inspiring after talks about mothers. Peformed by Engelkes with new music by sound designer Willi Bopp in collaboration with text writer Sophie Holgersson, filmmaker Erik Pauser, costume Anna Ardelius, choreography Bo Arenander, video Venus Krantz/Alessandro Stigliano, Light Karl Svensson.

2017 we are preparing for JOY!

Premier Feb 25 for Glädjen eller småprat i svartvitt at Helsingborgs Stadsteater

25 Feb - 18 Mar, Helsingborgs Stadsteater

Inspired by some of Ingmar Bergmans early movies the play Glädjen eller småprat i svartvitt (Joy or small talk in black in white) will let human relations come alive with joy, in doubt, in rage, in close-ups, in twilight in-between black and white. The Bergman cinematic landscape is released from the reel and reinterpreted to a playful and swift adventure. Glädjen is one-of-a-kind performance where Engelkes and the ensemble highlight the curiosity in Bergman and the curiosity in all of us.

Glädjen is the third stage production Charlotte Engelkes directs at Helsingborg Stadsteatern following Svansångare and Flygande Holländare.
